Michael Eshkibok: Fighting Sioux a symbol of America's racist past
Wednesday, January 26, 2011

"Socially and historically educated Americans know that Indian sports logos are inherently offensive, exploitative and racist.

Such logos really are about white America’s denial of its racist history in subjugating the continent in the name of Manifest Destiny.

Logo supporters have failed to come to terms with the reality of the historically recent European invasion and conquest of North America.

Descendents of these invaders and other non-Indian North Dakotans refuse to acknowledge the essential unfairness of the surviving power relationship between American Indians and Euro-Americans as a result of that conquest. "
